Short project description
Children with developmental disabilities are prevented from taking part in many social activities in the community, including sport. Unfortunately, there are no specially adapted programmes (or knowledge among sports staff) for including them in regular sports programmes. By combining knowledge of sport on the one hand and of working with children with developmental disabilities on the other, the project will create an ideal programme that will encourage the all-round psychosomatic development of children, develop their self-confidence, and also identify talented children so that they can be guided into sport and included in regular sports programmes. On 3 January 2019, the Vukovar Butterflies Association officially began implementing a new EU project called “All the Things I Can Do Through Sport” under the Call: “Inclusion of children and young people at risk of social exclusion, persons with disabilities and children with developmental disabilities in the community through sport” UP.02.1.1.08
We are implementing the project in partnership with the Public Institution for the Management of Sports Facilities of the Town of Vukovar “Sportski objekti Vukovar”, the “Naša djeca” Society Vukovar and Vukovar-Srijem County.
The project lasts 36 months. The project is 100% funded by the European Social Fund through the Efficient Human Resources programme. The value of the project is HRK 1,493,809.16.
The goal of the project is to provide children with developmental disabilities in Vukovar-Srijem County with the preconditions and equal opportunities to take part in sports activities. By combining knowledge of sport on the one hand and of working with children with developmental disabilities on the other, an ideal programme will be created that will encourage the all-round psychosomatic development of children, develop their self-confidence, and also identify talented children so that they can be guided into sport and included in regular sports programmes. At least 200 users, children with developmental disabilities, are expected to be included.
The project will provide:
- Renovation of the car park in front of the Association and removal of its infrastructure barriers
- Equipment for the sports halls of the Applicant and the partners
- A series of training courses for sports staff
- Creation of adapted sports programmes for children with disabilities
- Training and employment of new staff through the Project
Promotion of the importance of sport and recreation for children with developmental disabilities through numerous awareness-raising activities that we are planning during the project
(organising a Little Olympics, marking World Sports Day, and organising Conferences and a Round Table, radio programmes and more)

Project goal
The goal of the project is to provide children with developmental disabilities in Vukovar-Srijem County with the preconditions and equal opportunities to take part in sports activities.
Results
A total of 200 users, children with developmental disabilities aged 3 to 18, will be included in the implementation of the project. The users will improve their psychomotor abilities, socialise and learn the basics of fundamental sports. Joint training sessions and integrated programmes will create the preconditions for the inclusion of children with developmental disabilities through sport. In addition to creating and running an adapted sports programme for children with developmental disabilities every day, the implementation of the project will provide:
- Renovation of the car park in front of the Association and removal of its infrastructure barriers
- Equipment for the sports halls of the Applicant and the partners
- A series of workshops and training courses for sports programme leaders
- Training and employment of new staff through the Project
Promotion of the importance of sport and recreation for children with developmental disabilities through numerous awareness-raising activities that we are planning during the project (organising a Little Olympics in Vukovar, marking World Sports Day, organising Conferences and a Round Table, presenting the project and the work of the Association on radio programmes, and more).

Project value: HRK 1,493,809.16, of which 85% (HRK 1,269,737.79) is co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund, and 15% (HRK 224,071.37) is co-financed by the Republic of Croatia from the State Budget
